DUNE 3 is based on the award-winning DUNE 2 synthesizer. It adds frequently requested features and innovative ideas to make working with DUNE as convenient as possible!

DUNE 3 includes many new patches created by experienced sound engineers. Since DUNE 3 is fully compatible with DUNE 2 patches, it also includes presets, increasing the size of the factory library to over 1000 patches.

Dual Filter

The updated filter section in DUNE 3 now includes a dual-mode filter and an insert effect. Various routing modes, such as serial/parallel routing and smooth blending with the Balance knob, open up endless creative possibilities! New filter types have also been added, including filters with zero-latency feedback based on our latest analog modeling technology. For creative tasks, new insert effects such as a formant/verb filter or a phaser greatly expand the sound design possibilities.

Dual Arpeggiator

Two arpeggiator blocks instead of one greatly expand the sound design possibilities in DUNE 3. The arpeggiators can be programmed independently of each other, and support both classic ascending and descending arpeggios, as well as the playback of various sequences or even MIDI files. In addition, new features such as Random mode or programmable arpeggio hold make the arpeggiator more powerful than ever before!

Improved oscillators

At the heart of DUNE 3 are powerful oscillator blocks. DUNE 3 supports VA, FM and wavetable synthesis. With a maximum reserve of 8320 oscillators at full polyphony, DUNE 3 is a real unison monster that is unlikely to ever run out of oscillators.
DUNE 3 has a new “Swarm” mode – an improved version of the classic Supersaw oscillator. In this mode, each oscillator gets its own subtle modulation, which gives the sound much more life than was possible before!

New effect algorithms

DUNE 3 offers many new effect algorithms in all categories such as distortion, chorus, phaser, EQ, delay and reverb.
One of the most important additions is the new EQ, which uses technology from our GQ-7 graphic equalizer.
Designed as a professional tool for mixing and mastering, the new EQ offers four bands of high-quality parametric and shelving EQs, plus two additional low-pass and high-pass filters with variable slopes. All EQ filters are designed to work with modulation without artifacts, so the EQ can be used for creative purposes beyond traditional EQ applications.
Another great new effects algorithm is Shimmer Hall, a DUNE 3 exclusive. It is perfect for creating rich ambience sounds, wonderful pads and leads!

Wavetable Editor

The new wavetable editor introduced in DUNE 3 is one of the most powerful of its kind. Waveforms can be created using freehand drawing, segments, a dedicated fragment editor or by entering formulas. A variety of functions such as morphing, fade in/out, normalize, DC removal, inversion/reversal make it easy to create new wavetables. Waveforms and wavetables can be imported and exported in WAV format, making them compatible with a wide range of third-party programs.

WAV File Editor

Since version 3.4, WAV files can be included in sounds in DUNE 3. This is done using oscillator 3. A loop region can be set for the loaded WAV file. When the loop is enabled, the selected segment is repeated continuously as long as the note is played. WAV files that can be imported are 16, 24, and 32-bit WAV files with sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz, mono and stereo.

Synapse Audio has updated DUNE 3 to version 3.64. This update contains the following changes:

• Expanded support for MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) controllers.
• The custom keyboard range can now be adjusted using the LEDs located above the pitch bend and modulation wheels.
• A Time/Samples panel has been added to the Wave and Wavetable editors.
• The Low Cut knob did not affect the “Cathedral” reverb type, fixed.
• In Reason, parameters were reset to default values after a program change in rare cases, fixed.
