- Frequency-detecting tracking generator
- 9 human voice sounds in Vowel Filter
- Dynamic oversampling in all directions
Designed to deliver the best harmonics and sound quality,
all 21 filters produce stunning analogue sound with high resolution and no aliasing. From the singing Comb to the cool 8-pole low-pass, from the dirty Diode MS to the rough 030, WOW2 has all the filters you could possibly need. And they all work in vowel mode, showcasing a wide range of sounds made by humanoid creatures.
The unusual modulation system extends the possibilities to the module level: for example, with modulating modulators.
The presets are a good start. Or try using the cool 8-pole LP on the bass and enjoy that sparkling, juicy sound.
In WOW chat, you can choose any two vowels from nine suggested ones.
Vary the cutoff between the two vowels to create formant shaping effects in the dry signal. Modulate the cutoff (or the chosen vowels themselves…) to create chorus and flanger effects. Works best in combination with the Comb or Bandpass filter at high resonance settings!
Vowel sounds: [i:] as in seat, [e] as in hen, [?] as in fat, [y] as in tu (French), [?] as in the, [?] as in father, [?] as in awe, [o] as in copy and as in boot.
Modulation is Power
The real magic happens when modulation kicks in.
There are four sources: a frequency-defining envelope, an LFO with 13 waveforms, a 16-step sequencer, and a Wobble Knob (taken from our Cyclop synth).
Targets and intensity (bipolar) are set in the wheels at the bottom of the Modulation section. Or just right-click on any parameter and assign a source – it couldn’t be simpler.
Oscillation Generator
Taking the mod section to the extreme,
this is a whole different ballpark compared to other modulators. The central knob controls two parameters: the LFO waveform (16 different waveforms) and the speed (12 tempo speeds).
The knob can be modulated independently (select the LFO first), and that’s the whole point of oscillation control: make the knob move!
Distortion Block
Quadruple upsampling for alias-free harmonic processing.
Seven algorithms can be used before or after the filter section, greatly expanding the sonic range. Choose from tube-amp-style Parabolic, graceful Bitcrusher, Sine(!), or digital hell’s Devilish.
Volume is stable even at high levels, saving you the need for cumbersome automation when things get dynamic.
